Partner with Canopy Tutoring to provide no-cost literacy tutoring at your school or district.
Who We Are:
Canopy Tutoring has been partnering with schools and districts to provide literacy tutoring since 2021. Tutors receive training and a scripted literacy curriculum, as well as support submitting paperwork. Canopy Tutoring is a great way to add targeted literacy tutoring to your after school programming.
Program Key Features:
No cost to the district, school or families through the LDOE Steve Carter Literacy Program
Comprehensive operational support for minimal staff burden to ensure program compliance and effectiveness.
Teachers earn extra income as highly-qualified tutors - up to $40 per hour for 3:1 groups. Students are tutored at their school site.
Our turn-key, Tier 1 aligned curriculum is designed to foster academic growth in students while alleviating workload for tutors.
Teacher online training on using the curriculum, and program logistics
Steve Carter Literacy Tutoring Program
The LDOE's Steve Carter Tutoring Program supports eligible K-5th grade students with free early literacy tutoring. Tutors can work with students at their schools sites before or after school in small groups.
Tutor Requirements:
Teaching Certificate or Education Degree, preferably in Early Childhood or Literacy
Louisiana Literacy Training (Act 108)
Experience with K-5 students
Access to a computer for digital training and curriculum
Tutor Responsibilities:
Identify students & help families through the enrollment process
Coordinate schedule with families
Complete Canopy Tutoring’s self-paced tutor training
Administer pre & post assessments
Tutor students & complete tutor logs
Turn-Key Curriculum
Our Tier 1 aligned phonics curriculum for use with your own teachers or tutors. The curriculum includes:
Placement screener
10 levels of scripted phonics tutoring sessions based on the Science of Reading
Crosswalk to free CKLA workbooks and readers
Full training provided
