Steve Carter Literacy Tutoring Program
The LDOE's Steve Carter Tutoring Program supports eligible K-5th grade students with free early literacy tutoring. Tutors can work with students at their schools sites in small groups.
Tutor Requirements:
Teaching Certificate or Education Degree, preferably in Early Childhood or Literacy.
Louisiana Literacy Training (Act 108)
Experience with K-5 students.
Access to a computer for digital training and curriculum.
School employees are encouraged to apply!
Tutor Responsibilities:
Identify students & help families through the enrollment process
Coordinate schedule with families
Complete Canopy Tutoring’s self-paced tutor training (~1 hour)
Administer pre & post assessments
Tutor students & complete tutor logs
